Distributors of Sling, Bushcat and VL-3 Evolution Aircraft

Global Aviation Products (GAP) was established in 2012 to be the official distributor of Sling Light Sport Aircraft in Australia and from 2017 the Bushcat Aircraft has also joined our product stable.

In March 2018, we are excited to announce the imminent arrival of our latest LSA product which we will distribute – the VL-3 Evolution, by JMB Aircraft. This aircraft is superbly built and of exceptional quality. With a retractable undercarriage, it is super fast – 305 km/h cruise and represents the top niche in light sport aircraft.

The company is headed by Errol van Rensburg who has over 30 years experience within the Aerospace industry. In that time Errol has held executive management positions that administrated the development of a number of world class Aviation products including:

Q Sling 2


No single aircraft can fulfil the special needs of every pilot. Nevertheless, The Airplane Factory believes that the Sling enjoys a set of qualities that will fulfil the needs, at the highest level, of many pilots and flight training schools.

The Sling was designed with the aim of creating the most practical and desirable light sport aircraft available.

The Sling comprises a stressed skin semi-monocoque structure, precision punched from sheet aluminium by CNC punch. Punching is so precise that no drilling-out or de-burring is required. Parts go together much as with a child’s "Mechano" toy. The entire build is light, precise and simple, even for beginners to manage.

Some of the features which make the Sling such a fine aircraft include:

• Her flying characteristics - perfectly coordinated, highly responsive controls (she feels like a fighter jet without being over-sensitive)
• Her performance - close to the best across the full range of qualities
• Her aluminium construction - for ease and consistency of construction and proven strength and lifespan
• Her airframe strength and durability – she won’t break easily and if you treat her right, she’ll last you for the rest of your life
• Her excellent instrumentation options
• Her wide cockpit, excellent all around view and substantial luggage capacity
• The incorporation, by design, of a ballistic parachute for safety

LSA: The Sling is flown subject to a MAUW restriction of 600kg. In this configuration the Sling complies with all the requirements of ASTM F2245 – "Standard Specification for the Design and Performance of a Light Sport Aircraft".

VLA: The Sling is flown subject to a MAUW restriction of 700kg. In this configuration the Sling complies with all the requirements of the "Certification Specifications for Very Light Aeroplanes, CS-VLA".

The aircraft specifications, save for fuel capacity and weights, however, are the same in each category. The performances are different and are provided for both of the categories.

Q Sling 4


The Sling 4 concept emerged from the performance of the standard Airplane Factory Sling 2 during Mike and James' 2009 circumnavigation. Conceived as a 600kg MAUW "light sport" aircraft, it was soon clear that, even with a normally aspirated 100hp motor, the standard Sling was able to climb and perform well right up to 970kg.

The first consequence is that The Airplane Factory Team performed all the required tests and approved the standard aircraft at 700kg MAUW. We also simultaneously commenced work on development of a light 4 seater version of the same aircraft.

The chief differences between the Sling 2 and the Sling 4 are the wing size, the engine and the centre fuselage arrangements. Where the standard Sling customarily uses a 100hp Rotax 912 ULS or iS engine, the Sling 4 will be fitted with the 115hp turbocharged Rotax 914 UL engine.

Although a 15hp difference doesn't sound like the world, the turbocharged engine gives full power at up to 15 000 feet, at which altitude the 100hp would only be delivering approximately 55hp. So on a hot day the swing in power between the 912 ULS and 914 UL engine is in the vicinity of 36%, not just 15%.

Q Sling TSi


The Sling TSi, like its predecessors, has received critical acclaim for its capabilities, effortless handling and all-round functionality. The name 'TSi' is a homage to its Rotax 915 iS engine and marks a new chapter in TAF's vision to build the world's most loved light aircraft.

Mike Blyth, founder of The Airplane Factory had this to say of their latest development; "The brand-new Sling TSi stands out as the new standard for 4-seat experimental aircraft. It outperforms most others in every way. Compared to previous models it has increased speed, increased rate of climb, longer range, increased carrying capacity, more space and greater comfort all whilst flying the best handling aircraft in its class!"

The Sling TSi is powered by a 141hp Rotax 915 iS Fuel Injected Turbo Charged Engine burning just 8 gph (31 lt/hr) in the cruise. During test flights, the aircraft reached a maximum straight and level speed of 155 KTAS and has a range of 800 Nm. With its luxurious cabin, low fuel burn and Garmin avionics, it will please private pilots and flight-training organisations alike.

This 4-place aircraft comes standard with a bespoke 3 blade Airmaster constant speed propeller, Garmin 10 inch G3X touch EFIS, Garmin G5 backup EFIS, Garmin GTR 200 COM radio, Garmin GTX 35R remote transponder, Garmin autopilot system with GMC 307 autopilot controller and PM 1000 II 4-place intercom.

The completely redesigned exterior features high quality materials and design integrity, as well as great practicality and a range of technologies to improve comfort, convenience and safety.

The result is an aircraft with an uncompromising mission: To offer unrivalled performance, safety and reliability in the hands of all pilots no matter the mission. The Sling was designed with the aim of creating the most practical and desirable light sport aircraft available.

Q The Bushcat


The BushCat is the third and latest generation of the Cheetah design. Designed around four principles: Simplicity, ruggedness, low cost and FUN! The original Cheetah aircraft was able to serve bush pilots in areas that other light sport aircraft just couldn’t handle.

As a result, the focus moved toward making the aeroplane tougher than any other in its class, and able to withstand the might of the bushveld and tundra – as a result the BushCat was born.

Since then the BushCat has continued to serve its duties as a bush aeroplane and is being successfully used in anti-wildlife-poaching missions in various regions of Africa. More BushCats are on order by conservation entities for this very purpose as it meets the very specific requirements of these missions.

The aircraft is extremely comfortable with the widest cabin in its class and offers generous headroom making the aircraft perfect for all sizes of pilots. Due to its simplistic modular design, the aircraft is extremely easy to work on thus reducing the cost of maintenance and repair to a minimum.

Available in nose-wheel, tail-dragger and amphibious configurations with readybuilt and kitplane options, the aircraft also caters for all preferences. The BushCat demonstrates great performance and STOL ability – at the best price!

Key features include:

Rotax 912ULS engine: The 912ULS is a 100hp normally aspirated, horizontally opposed, four-cylinder engine designed and built in Austria that is one of the most popular and reliable engines in the world and has a worldwide support network.

Aluminium tubular space frame: The primary structure of the aircraft is made from aluminium tubes bolted together via stainless steel brackets. The simplicity of this design reduces manufacturing cost and time, resulting in a product with a high strength per cost ratio.

Furthermore, in the event of damage to the primary structure, this design philosophy allows the customer to replace only the parts which have been damaged.

Trilam skin covering: The aluminium space frame is covered with a Trilaminate composite fabric, commonly used in the sailing industry for yacht sails. It is incredibly strong and has proved itself against the elements. In addition to this, we offer all our customers the opportunity to pick from our range of five bright colours to form their own design for their aircraft covering.

Aluminium spring undercarriage: One of the biggest changes seen on the BushCat is the move from a braced undercarriage to a sprung undercarriage. The new design makes use of a solid aluminium spring gear, which proves smaller spring constant and results in softer off airport landings. The added strength of the solid aluminium construction means that the aeroplane is more forgiving to less experienced pilots operating in difficult conditions.

Hydraulic brakes: Another new feature found in all BushCat aircraft is the hydraulic disk brake system, which has been upgraded from the previous mechanical drum brake system.The new system became a necessity to aid with shorter landing performance.

Removable doors: If your mission requires the use of in flight photography or any other activity in which the doors might get in the way, it is useful to note that both doors are 100% removable.within 3 minutes.

Centrally mounted control stick: The BushCat is flown with a control stick mounted between both occupants, forward of the central arm rest. This configuration allows the pilot to keep his or her hand on the stick at all times, freeing the other hand for the throttle and panel mounted instruments.The use of a single stick ensures that control system complexity is kept to a minimum and that cockpit entry and exit is not blocked by floor or panel mounted systems.

Arm rest throttle: In order to accommodate the centrally mounted control stick, the designers of the BushCat have found a neat place to put the throttle. Two interconnected throttles are mounted comfortably at the end of the armrests. Both arm rests can also rotate to facilitate exit and entry into the cockpit, without affecting the throttle position.

Floats: The BushCat amphibian makes use of the 1400 Clamar amphibious floats. These composite floats are made using a combination of carbon, Kevlar, and S-glass fibres resulting in a lightweight product immune to corrosion and leaks.

+6 -4 Loading factor wing: The BushCat wing has been designed, tested, and certified to withstand +6G and -4G load factors at its maximum all up weight of 560kg (1235lbs).

Q JMB Aircraft VL3


JMB Aircraft is the production company of the VL3, a plane designed by Vanessa Air and produced in the past by Aveko. The airframe is completely made of composite material which excels in its specific strength and excellent fatigue properties. The entire aircraft can be broken down into individual units, i. e., both halves of the wing and tail surfaces, including stabilisers, can be separated from the fuselage to ease aircraft transport.

The aerodynamic design of the wing gives the aircraft appropriate fall characteristics. The separation of air flow in the critical angle of slope happens at the root of the wing. This ensures good handling of the machine until it drops and symmetrically stalls. This allows for the aircraft's smooth and agile handling.

The tail section employs a true and tested traditional design. The internal structure of the stabilisers is similar to the construction of the wings. Therefore the tail section can be completely removed from the hull, with the exception of the keel, which is its integral part.

The VL3 has type certificates in The Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, France, Norway, Portugal, Poland, The Baltic States, South Africa, USA, Italy, Slovakia, Turkey, Hungary and Romania. VL3 is eligible to be registered in Canada. New type certificates are in process for Israel, Australia, New Zealand and Spain.

Interior Design: The cabin area features clean lines and a minimalist, contemporary design. The combination of carbon and kevlar fibers, which are extremely tough, provide safety to the crew in case of an emergency landing.

The dashboard is fully customised to individual customers. The instruments are mounted in a laser-cut plate with surface inscriptions created by Serigraphy. Carbon look panel is an option.

The seats are comfortable and modern – select your choice of textile or leather designs, including choice of colour. The seats are equipped with four-point safety belts. You can also choose colour of stitches, safety belts, perforated leather or not, colour of embroidery.

The aircraft is equipped with a heating and ventilation system. Warm air is distributed to the leg areas, while cold air is delivered through vents on the dashboard. Strong Aveo cabin ventilation system can be ordered as an option.

The baggage compartment is equipped with headphones holders. The luggage space allows for four standard airliner size cabin bags.

The acrylic glass canopy allows for spectacular views from the aircraft throughout your journey. Available in your choice of clear/blue/green or brown.

Engine: The VL3 is available with two different engines: the Rotax 912 and the Rotax 914. The Rotax 912 is known for its reliability and efficiency, making it ideal for flying long distances. The Rotax 914 is for those pilots who are seeking a boost in performance(30 km/h (16 kts) @ FL 90), with more power and more uniform performance at different altitudes.

Option to install an additional electric fuel pump, an airbox, fire protection of the fuel and oil hoses or an auxiliary generator. Full engine management system is included to monitor fuel pressure, fuel flow, oil pressure, oil temperature, CHT, EGT, MAP.

Fixed or variable pitch propeller options are available.

Safety: The VL3 is certified and tested in collaboration with the Czech Aerospace Institute. The VL3 was successfully tested to ultimate loads up to +15G's and -8G's. Flutter tested up to 460 km/h. Parachute rescue system limits VNE to 305 km/h. Airframe Parachute installed for emergency decent.

Options to install a TCAS (Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance), an ELT ( Emergency locator transmitter), Garmin auto level, AOA indicator with audio warning.
